Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood

Mary, Princess Royal (1897-1965), only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary of the United Kingdom; granddaughter of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Trained as a nurse during World War I and was president of the Girl Guide Association. Married Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood in 1922, with Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who would later marry her brother Prince Albert (the future George VI), attending as a bridesmaid. Remained close to Edward VIII, her eldest brother, even after his abdication and marriage to Wallis Simpson, unlike the rest of the Royal family.
