Princess Märtha of Sweden (1901-54), second child of Prince Carl of Sweden, Duke of Västergötland and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark; granddaughter of Sophia of Nassau and Princess Louise of Sweden. Older sister of Queen Astrid of the Belgians. Married Crown Prince Olav of Norway in 1929. Lived with her three children (including Harald V, the current Norwegian king) in the United States for much of World War II, as Norway was under German occupation, while her husband stayed in London. Received a warm welcome upon her return to Norway in 1945, but her health had deteriorated considerably. Died of cancer at the age of 53.
