Queen Dona Maria Amélia (Amélie of Orléans)

Amélie of Orléans (1865-1951), consort of King Carlos I of Portugal. Eldest daughter of Prince Philippe, comte de Paris, and his wife, Princess Marie Isabelle d’Orléans. Married in 1886, becoming Queen consort three years later. Witnessed the assassination of her husband and of her older son, Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal, in 1908. Went into exile after the 1910 revolution that deposed her younger son, King Manuel II.
